Anchor Menu The Anchor menu contains: TouchLink™ Allows for the simplified creation of a complete hypertext link and its destination, a named anchor. HyperText Link Adds an HTML anchor element given a text selection as "hot text". Uses the Anchor Utility. Quick HyperText Link Adds an HTML anchor element given a text selection as "hot text", using the URL field as a default HREF. If the URL field is empty, a dialog box will be displayed, requesting the URL for the link. HyperText Link To Previous, Next Document, Selected Document… Inserts a hypertext link to the previous or next document (as located sequentially in the HTML.edit editor), or a selected document. The link will use the current text selection as hot text or will insert the anchor into the text at the insertion point. If the checkbox "Confirm Automated HyperText Links" (under Editor Preferences) is checked, the Anchor Utility will be displayed confirming the link before it is inserted. Note that if the length of the text selection is zero (the insertion point is flashing in an editor field but there is no hilighted text) and the Option key is held down while performing this command, the TITLE (if it exists) of the target document will be inserted as the hypertext for the link. Named Anchor A named anchor provides a target within a document for hypertext links. A named anchor is a anchor element having simply a NAME attribute. Quick Named Anchor Adds an HTML named anchor given a text selection as "hot text", using the URL field as a default HREF. If the URL field is empty, a dialog box will be displayed, requesting the URL for the link. Table of Contents Inserts a table of contents of either all documents or those with a selected label. Index and Hilight Anchors Displays a list of All Anchors, the HyperText Links, or just the Named Anchors within the current document. To close the Index list, click on its close box. See also Index HTML. The Hilight HTML command hilights the chosen elements. URL PopUp Menu The URL popup menu provides a simple way of creating a URL from the documents in the editor, which can be cut and pasted into your documents, or used as the default HREF by the Anchor Utility. The URL field (to the right of the popUp menu) is used by the TouchLink and QuickLink commands for storage of the target URL. Named Anchors (targets of a link) created by any of the anchor menu commands are entered into the URL field. If the URL references a document located on the default server (see Paths & Labels Preferences for information on defining the default server), you'll note the URL being updated relative to the target document as you navigate to other documents. Note that if you make any changes to the URL field, this will cancel this updating process. Any URLs entered into the HotList Library under Libraries Preferences on the Preferences card will be appended to the URL popUp menu.
